Guidelines for prospective authors
The Blog accepts submissions on a rolling basis. The editors invite submissions on a broad range of business and human rights issues, including case comments, theoretical analyses, conference reports, literature critiques, and commentaries on recent developments. New insights and new voices are especially welcome. The Blog is intended to be complementary to the BHRJ. We welcome contributors from all disciplinary backgrounds and from all regions of the world. We are particularly interested in providing a platform for underrepresented voices from the Global South.
How to Submit a Post for Publication
Please email the editors at bhrj.blog@gmail.com a complete draft post as a Word file, which should include the title of the blog post, short biodata of no more than 50 words and a link to any professional web page. The blog post should contain hyperlinks instead of footnotes and should have sub-headings all through the text in order to enhance the flow of the text.

Review of Submissions
All submissions will be reviewed and edited before publication, but you are responsible for proof-reading and ensuring that all hyperlinks work at the time of publishing. The editors will endeavour to respond to authors as soon as possible (particularly for posts that are time-sensitive). Should a piece require revision prior to publication, the editors will get in touch with the author with specific comments or suggestions. Please be considerate of the editors’ time.
The decision to publish a post is based on a variety of considerations, including the quality of the content, originality, contribution to the debate and topical nature of the post. All posts should be written in clear, concise and accessible language. The BHRJ Blog Editors will not publish pieces that are defamatory in nature or contain personal attacks or unsupported assertions. We have a global readership, so your post should provide enough relevant background information to make it accessible to readers from outside your country or region.
Style Guidelines
All posts should be written in British English, except where quoted texts use a different spelling. Where necessary please refer to the BHRJ Style Guide.
Length:
Blog posts should ideally be around 1,000-1,500 words. Please consult the Blog editors if a particular post requires a different length; where possible, indicate where the post can be split into multiple separate pieces.
Contents:
The blog should be written in accessible language that will be understandable to a wide audience, and not just an academic one.
Use sub-headings all through the text in order to enhance readability.
Begin with an introductory paragraph setting out one or two main arguments that will be addressed within the contribution.
Have a clear conclusion that sums up the main contributions of the blog.
We particularly invite authors to test the waters by exploring new research areas, or by making provocative arguments on topical issues that will spur debate and critical reflection within our readership.
Hyperlinks:
Please insert working hyperlinks to relevant materials available online, in the text of the document. Do not use footnotes.
If citation rules become relevant, please refer to the BHRJ Citation Guide.
Font, line spacing and headings:
Please use Times New Roman, point 12, 1.5 line spacing.
Headings can be used for longer posts.
Please use sub-headings throughout the text.
Photos:
Blog posts are accompanied by a standard BHRJ photo. If you would like a specific image to accompany the post, please submit an open source image, personal photo or any other image to which you hold copyright with your post.
